The Meeting Notes series contains over eighty notepads with Lawrence’s notes taken primarily during Pelosi’s meetings and phone calls. The material in this series documents the Democratic Party’s legislative and election strategies, and negotiations with United States presidents and Republican Party leaders. Subjects discussed include the Iraq War, the Central Intelligence Agency’s (CIA) use of torture, health care legislation, mid-term elections, ethics investigations, Pelosi’s post-2012 election battle to remain speaker, and negotiations during the debt ceiling crisis in 2011. Pelosi was present during the vast majority of these conversations; other participants of note include Joseph R. Biden, John Boehner, George W. Bush, Eric Cantor, James Clyburn, Al Gore, Steny H. Hoyer, Barack Obama, Michelle Obama, and Harry Reid.
