BOX 125-199	Post-White House File, 1976-2015
		The Post-White House File highlights Gibbons's activities following his retirement from the Office of Science and Technology Policy and features his continued interests in energy, environmental issues, science, sustainability, and technology. After leaving the White House, Gibbons continued to share his expertise by serving on various civic and professional boards, organizations, and committees. Subject files showcase these efforts and activities. To solve the related problems of air pollution, climate change, and dependency on foreign oil, the Bill Clinton presidential administration created a public-private research and engineering partnership to develop clean cars called the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles. This series includes documentation of Gibbons continued work on this cause. Also featured is Gibbons's involvement with the organization Population Action International, including his position as chair from 2003 to 2006, as the organization advocated for improving global access to family planning, reproductive healthcare, and educational and economic opportunities for girls and women. A speech and engagement file include topics such as climate change, environmental conservation, federal support for research and development, governance of science and technology, renewable energy, science and technology policies, science education, and sustainability. Included are his reflections about advising Congress and the president and thoughts on the future and challenges for energy, science, technology, and engineering in the 21st century. Digital files containing audio and video files of Gibbons's speeches and engagements from 1998 to 2010 along with supporting papers are also included in the series. The paper and digital files complement each other. Other digital files serve as supporting material for meetings, presentations, and topical files. Material types include correspondence, handwritten and printed speeches with supporting material, notes, appointment calendars, printed matter, reports, newspaper clippings, photographs, meeting material, and telephone logs. Digital files include audio, video, text, and .ppt files.
