Series 1: Unbroken Correspondence, 1895-2016 and undated
The Unbroken Correspondence series consists of Hamady’s personal and professional correspondence and documents his relationships and projects. The series includes communications with family members, including his mother, partners and children, but the bulk of the correspondence relates to his work and the Perishable Press. Hamady often preserved the carbon copy of his typed letters, so many exchanges include both his receipt and his response. The series also includes proof copies of projects.
Material types include correspondence; printed matter; manuscripts; proof copies; dummy copies; trial sewing; mock-ups; and photographs.
The name of this series came from Hamady himself, as does the arrangement, which is alphabetical by individual’s last name or by group name.
