Papers and audiovisual materials comprising the professional archive of storyteller Connie Regan-Blake created and produced during her career from the 1960s to 2014. Includes video and audio interviews of Connie Regan-Blake; recordings of her performances and those of other storytellers at folk festivals, storytelling festivals, and media events and television programs. Regan-Blake performed at the National Storytelling Festival beginning in the 1970s and for many years as part of the storytelling duo, Folktellers, with her first cousin Barbara Freeman. The collection includes the Folktellers play, Mountain sweet talk, (Asheville, North Carolina's longest running theatrical production). Correspondents include Frank and Anne Warner, David McClosky, Rosa Hicks, English folklorist Katharine Briggs, Ashley Bryan, Kathryn Windham, Joan Bloss (Newberry Award winner), and Jimmy Neil Smith among many others; with photographs, programs; contracts; diaries; and artifacts.

Collection of field recordings of interviews with Montanans in various occupations including ranching, sheep herding, blacksmithing, stone cutting, saddle making, and mining; various folk and traditional music occasions including fiddle and mandolin music in Forsyth; fiddle and accordion music performed in Broadus; the Montana Old-Time Fiddlers Association in Polson; Irish music, songs, and dance music on concertina and accordion in Butte; a Serbian wedding and reception in Butte; hymn singing of the Turner Colony of Hutterites; the annual Crow Fair in Crow Agency; storytelling on the Milk River Wagon Train, and other documentation of rodeos, trade crafts, vernacular architecture, quilting, and other reminiscences and stories about life in Montana in 1979. One videocassette comprises news coverage of the Montana Folklife Survey, featuring Barre Toelken, KECI-TV, Missoula, Montana, 1979-09-13.

Summary:
Audio copies of original ethnographic field recordings made by anthropologist and linguist Harold C. Conklin, primarily of music and rituals of the Ifugao of northern Luzon, Philippines from 1961-1995. Also includes copies of 24 recordings, some made by other researchers and of other Philippine groups and languages dated 1955-1977. Related manuscripts include correspondence with Conklin, recording logs, and indices to the original recordings.

Summary:
The entire repertories of four master storytellers, Dai Buzhang, Fei Zhengliang (Fei Li), Gao Zaihua, and Ren Jitang (Ren Dekun) were recorded on video for the project "Large-scale Registration of Chinese Storytelling" from 2001 to 2003 in Yangzhou. In addition, a medium-length repertoire was told by Ren Dekun. Project co-leaders were Fei Li and Vibeke Børdahl, project assistant, co-editor and translator was Huang Ying, Yangzhou University; photographers were Li Xin and Chen Wei, Yangzhou. Yangzhou storytelling (Yangzhou pinghua) is oral narrative, primarily in Yangzhou dialect, performed with gestures and learned through apprenticeship with a professional master storyteller.

Summary:
Collection of field recordings, photographs, and notes by linguist Curtis Cook, who learned the Zuni language and documented the stories of elderly Zuni speakers while undertaking a translation of the Bible into the Zuni language during the 1960s and 1970s. Sound recordings (1964-1967) include narratives told by Zuni storytellers Longkeena Nash and Tom Ideque and others; recordings of children reading high school reports in English; and Curtis Cook reciting the gospel acccording to St. Mark, and other recordings. Photographs (1964-1972) include pictures of some of the Zuni speakers and storytellers who aided Cook in learning the Zuni language; landscapes at and near Zuni; adobe brick making and daily occupations at Zuni; photographs documenting the Zuni entry of dancers and musicians at the Gallup Intertribal Ceremonial in 1965; Zuni children; Zuni artwork, including jewelry and pottery. Manuscripts include Zuni stories and translation exercises in Zuni, and some interlineal translations in English of Zuni recordings from the Doris Duke collection. Cook submitted notes describing his photographs and his work at Zuni in 2004. On February 14, 2005, Curtis Cook met with staff of the American Folklife Center to discuss this collection and his work in Zuni. An audio recording of this meeting is included in the collection.
