Collection of audio recordings made at various bluegrass festivals and performances in the United States by Jun-ichi Yamada from 1972 to 1976 in Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and a few other unspecified geographic locations. The festivals include Carlton Haney's Bluegrass Festival at Watermelon Park, Berryville, Virginia; Bluegrass Music Festival in Bluegrass Park, Camp Springs, North Carolina; the Newgrass Festival of 1974; the Wise County Shrine Club Bluegrass Festival; the 2nd Carter Stanley Memorial Festival, McClure, Virginia; the 7th Annual Culpeper Bluegrass and Folk Music Festival, Culpeper, Virginia; Bill Monroe's Bluegrass Festival, Bean Blossom, Indiana; Old Time Family Bluegrass Festival, Callaway, Maryland; Georgia State Bluegrass Music Festival, Lavonia, Georgia; Bluegrass Bonanza Showcase, Indian Springs, Maryland; and the Indian Springs Bluegrass Festival, Hagerstown, Maryland. This collection was initiated through an on-air request for autograph albums on the "NBC Weekend" radio program by Duncan Emrich, then head of the Archive of Folk Song, Library of Congress, between 1955 and 1956. It consists of twenty autograph albums and related ephemera from Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Missouri, and New York, with dates from 1843 to 1923.

Lomax and his son Alan Lomax at the Archive of American Folk Song, Library of Congress, from 1932-1942, but with a few items dating to the 1960s. Correspondents include various staff at the Library of Congress, in particular, Harold Spivacke; and folklorists, musicians, writers, academics, film directors, and others, including Huddie "Lead Belly" Ledbetter and Woody Guthrie; various government agencies including the Works Progress Administration, Federal Writers' Project, and War Department; broadcasting and record companies; publishers; and fans of Alan Lomax's radio shows, who sent in contributions of folk songs and folklore from their childhood and communities. Summary:
The collection consists of photographs of quilts and quilters, essays, entry forms, and a few fabric and needlework samples submitted in three nationwide contests in 1992, 1994, and 1996 sponsored by Coming Home, a division of Lands’ End, Inc. home shopping service, and Good Housekeeping magazine. Approximately 13,100 entries for the three contests came from all 50 states and the District of Columbia with a few from Canada. Many styles of needlework, quilting, patchwork, appliqué, and embroidery are represented in the visual materials. The collection also includes correspondence and surveys from some contestants and administrative files related to judging the entries, exhibitions, and publicity.
