Summary:
Collection consists of 28 black-and-white photographic prints and 46 pages of diary excerpts written in the field by Sergei Zhirkevich, who documented music, dance, religious traditions (processions, Shrovetide customs) and rural life in the Pskov and Leningrad regions of Russia, the North Caucasus mountain area, Kazakhstan, and the former Baltic states between 1982 and 1998 for his book, Ot Zamogil'ia do Blagodati, From Beyond the Grave to Blessed Grace. (Sankt-Peterburg: Ikar, 1999). Collection includes one photograph taken in Estonia.

Collection consists of Abraham Schwadron's correspondence (1975-1985), manuscript materials, published and unpublished music transcriptions of the songs, field recordings, and other materials from his research on "Chad Gadya" ("One Kid"), a Jewish song associated with Passover. It contains recordings and transcriptions of more than 160 versions of "Chad Gadya" and related songs from around the world. Some notes from and about Schwadron's informants include details about learning and transmission of the song. Four photographic prints document the donation of the collection to the American Folklife Center, Library of Congress, in 1988.

Summary:
The collection consists of sound recordings, photographs, manuscript materials, videorecordings, publications, ephemera, administrative files, and field notes produced and collected during the 1977 Chicago Ethnic Arts Project field survey from 1976-1981; but primarily during fieldwork conducted by fourteen folklorists directed by the American Folklife Center in 1977. The final project report presented to the Illinois Arts Council summarized the current conditions and folk arts needs in a number of Chicago's ethnic communities. Materials from post-project activities such as workshops in the ethnic communities and a traveling photographic exhibit by Jonas Dovydenas are also included.
