Biographical Notes
Oneyda Alvarenga (1911-1984) was a Brazilian journalist, poet, and ethnomusicologist. She attended the Music and Drama Conservatory of São Paulo and was a student of Mário de Andrade and Dinah and Claude Levi-Strauss. In 1935 she became the director of the Discoteca Pública de São Paulo and was a founding member of the Sociedade de Etnografia e Folclore.
