Administrative Information
Acquisition
Quilt Alliance; 2007 to 2016.
Accruals
Major accruals were received by the American Folklife Center from the Quilt Alliance in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013. The final accrual is expected in 2016.
Processing History
The physical materials were processed according to material type. The manuscript material is organized in the order of arrival at the American Folklife Center archive, with the exception of the Trinity Valley Quilters’ Guild interviews which was reorganized in order to be grouped with the three large quilt shows located at the beginning of the manuscript series. The arrangement and folder titles mirror the system which was created by the Quilt Aliance. Sound recordings on cassette tapes were assigned unique sound recording (SR) numbers and organized in the same order as the manuscripts. Compact disks, 3.5 in. floppy disks and zip disks were assigned computer file (CF) numbers and are stored by material type. All digital files have been copied from the original carriers. Additionally, erence copies of all digital images contained on the electronic media were printed out in black and white and placed in the relevant interview folders.
The collection contains interviews conducted from 1999-2016. As new materials were received, the installments were not interfiled but were rehoused and arranged in the same fashion as previous installments.
Electronic Format
Transcribed interviews and accompanying photographs are posted to the Quilt Alliance website which can be accessed at http://quiltalliance.org/projects/qsos/
