Acquisition
In 1999, the Library of Congress purchased a large collection of material from the widow of Luiz Heitor Corrêa de Azevedo, Violeta Corrêa de Azevedo. Most of the collection went to the Music Division but Iêda Siqueira Wiarda of the Hispanic Division facilitated the transfer of the material related to folk traditions to the American Folklife Center in August 2005, with the assistance of Michael Taft and Sarah Bradley Leighton.
