Processing History
The Linda LaMacchia collection was processed by Sara Ludewig between September 2022 and May 2023.
The American Folklife Center received digital files from the Linda LaMacchia estate on optical discs, floppy disks, and flash drives, each of which was assigned a unique digital ID number. Sara Ludewig identified duplicate content and deaccessioned any duplicate folders and duplicate digital carriers. She also deleted empty or temporary files found on each digital carrier and arranged files within afc2017049_dc05, afc2017049_dc09, and afc2017049_dc60 into folders. Paul Kelly ripped audio discs from cda to wav format. Files retained their individual file names and were processed into archival information packages (AIPs) according to their original digital carrier. Digital materials are described at the item, folder, or digital carrier level. The optical discs and floppy disks that originally housed digital files were retained as part of the collection.
In January 2024, Sara Ludewig deaccessioned audio cassettes SR005, SR006, SR012, SR013, SR015, SR017, SR018, SR020, and SR021. These tapes were unlabelled and upon digitization were discovered to be material outside the scope of this collection.
As of January 2024, two microcassettes remain unprocessed. These materials are unlabelled and undated and an archivist cannot process these materials until they are digitized and can be listened to.
