Papers and audiovisual materials comprising the professional archive of storyteller Diane Wolkstein. Includes performance events and productions, publicity materials, fieldwork interviews, publishing contracts, correspondence, field notes, and story drafts.
Wolkstein adapted folktales from many cultures for performance and publication, producing stories for both adults and children. The collection includes her recordings and notes from research in Haiti, China, Australia, and other locations, used to inform her stories. Also included in the collection are recordings of Wolkstein's radio program Stories from Many Lands, which ran from 1968 to 1980 on WNYC radio. In 2007, Wolkstein produced a documentary about her life and work entitled A Storyteller's Story. Materials used to produce the documentary are included as a part of the collection.
