Scope and Content
The George Washington Pearcy collection includes biographical information, civilian papers, clippings, correspondence, diaries, maps, military papers, periodicals and photographs relating to George Washington Pearcy's service in the United States Army and Army Air Forces in the United States and the Philippines prior to and during World War II, and his subsequent capture by Japanese forces. The bulk of the collection consists of letters written by Pearcy to his family in St. Louis, Missouri while he was serving in the United states and the Philippines, and correspondence sent to and received by Pearcy's family relating to his service and status as a prisoner of war (POW). Also included are several diaries kept by Pearcy while he was held prisoner.
