Biographical Notes
Thomas Estévez Terry was born in New York City on December 15, 1893. Terry volunteered for the United States Army in 1917 and was assigned to the 2nd Ammunition Train, Horse Drawn Field Artillery, 2nd Division. After training at Camp Merritt, New Jersey, Terry was deployed to the Western Front of World War I. During his service, Terry was stationed in France and was promoted to the rank of Captain. Following the Armistice, he served in the Occupational Forces in Germany. He served in World War I with distinction, receiving the Croix de Guerre for his service in the 2nd Division, during the Battle of Belleau Wood.
Returning to serve his country during World War II, Terry was stationed at Fort Dix, New Jersey. His final duties were at Post Headquarters, Fort Dix, and he retired at the rank of colonel. Terry settled in Bordentown, New Jersey after World War II and died on April 25, 1969.
