Scope and Content
The Edgar D. Andrews collection contains correspondence, clippings, civilian papers, creative works, regimental histories, and photographs. The bulk of the collection consists of letters the veteran wrote to his mother, Sarah, his sister, Sue, and his father, George, while serving in France during World War I with the American Expeditionary Forces (AEF). Also found in the correspondence collection are letters from his cousin, Frank Paten, to his mother and sister. Topics covered include training at Fort Devens, Massachusetts, French people and towns, and combat. The regimental history documents the history of Company A, 102nd Machine Gun Battalion, 26th Division from 1917 to 1919, and mentions the veteran, by name, multiple times.
