Scope and Content Note
The collection contains maps, manuscripts, slides and other materials related to the professional career and personal life of Richard Edes Harrison. The materials were created and/or culminated by Harrison from 1920 to 1994. Included in the professional papers are unpublished writings and letters about Harrison's views of cartography for popular consumption, as well as his criticism of his peers. Published copies of Harrison's maps are dispersed throughout the collection and cataloged individually. Maps can also be found in periodicals, journals and other publications that used Harrison's work.
