Acquisition Information
The Jay I. Kislak Foundation donated the Jay I. Kislak Collection to the Library of Congress in 2004, with additional materials in the form of the Carta Marina and the Schoner Sammelband donated in late 2012.
Processing History
Information regarding the history of the collection was provided either by the series of curators of the collection at the Library of Congress, including Arthur Dunkelman, Barbara Tenebaum and John Hessler. The collection was re-housed, examined, and photographed by the Conservation Division of the Library of Congress before it came to the Library in 2004.
Transfers
In 2012, several archaeological objects were transferred back to the Kislak Foundation:
- Fragment of a Hieroglyphic Monument (Kislak PC 0016)
- Techialoyan Land Records, Multipart manuscript on amate
