Biographical Note
During the Second World War (1939–1945), unit route maps were created by American soldiers for fellow soldiers likely to boost morale. These maps trace the routes, major skirmishes, and major landmarks encountered by United States military units of varying sizes—including Army units and a few Navy vessels—through the Atlantic, European, and North African Theaters of Operations. Each map is a unique pictorial depiction of the unit’s experience during the conflict.
