Organizational Note
The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) was founded in 1943 from the assets of the National Broadcasting Company (NBC) Blue Network. Television network operations commenced in 1948.
The Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS) was founded in 1929 as a radio broadcasting network. Television operations began in 1931 with the establishment of experimental station W2XAB in New York City. W2XAB received a commercial license as WCBW (later renamed WCBS) in 1941. Television network operations commenced in 1948.
