Processing History
The Mark Goodson Productions Collection was processed by Rachel Del Gaudio and David Pontarelli in 2019-2020.
- The unprocessed collection consisted of 1,707 reels of 16mm kinescopes housed on six pallets.
- Material was physically sorted and organized by series title and broadcast date.
- Film was wound off original metal reels and rehoused on 3" cores in archival cans.
- Series titles and broadcast dates were noted on original can labels and film leaders.
- Online episode guides were consulted to verify broadcast dates and confirm celebrity panelists.
- When necessary, reels were previewed to distinguish daytime from primetime episodes by listening for the opening voiceover announcement of either "Today!" or "Tonight!"
- MAVIS (Merged Audio-Visual Information System) records were created for program episodes. Titles were structured by series name and broadcast date.
- Collection includes the unaired pilots for "Play for Keeps," 1955, "It Had to Be You," 1965, and "Nothing But the Truth," 1956, later renamed "To Tell the Truth."
- Episodes contain live on-air commercials for such sponsors as Sunbeam, Procter & Gamble, Pillsbury Mills, General Foods, and the Speidel Company.
