Administrative History
The Voice of America is a federally funded, public, international radio broadcaster. In response to the United States’ involvement in World War II and other world powers use of radio to promote its national ambitions, the Voice of America was formed in 1942. The VOA disseminated U.S. policy, war news, and propaganda abroad during World War II, the Cold War, and the Korean War, in particular. Throughout the years, the VOA evolved into a multilingual broadcaster and expanded beyond news reporting to include presentations of conflicting views on topical issues, feature programs, and music. More information on the organizational history can be found at the website of Voice of America .
