Scope and Content Note
The IASA Records span the years of 1951-2013, with the bulk of the materials dating from 1988-2005. The majority of the collection documents the breadth of operations, like conference planning, meetings, and efforts to become a leading, international organization for the sound archives profession.
The collection is organized into eight series, from largest to smallest extent: conferences and meetings ; governance ; committees, sections, and branches ; affiliated organizations ; finances ; membership and history ; publications ; general correspondence.
Series 1, Conferences and Meetings, contains agendas, meeting minutes, pamphlets, hotel information, and correspondence that documents the planning and events of gatherings.

Series 2, Governance, primarily meeting minutes from IASA's executive board where finances, sponsorship, elections, and affiliations with other organizations are discussed.

Series 3, Committees, Sections, and Branches, documents branch proposals and the work of committees to produce training manuals on technical matters and specialized areas of work.
Series 4, Affiliated Organizations, contains newsletters, press release, and correspondence related to operations, research, and annual conference planning.
Series 5, Finances, contains receipts, invoices, and correspondence.
Series 6, Membership and History, includes directories members and documentation of IASA's founding, structure, and activities.
Series 7, Publications, includes some newsletters, but is mostly proposals and drafts of published materials. The IASA Journal and final publications of technical reports are in the NAVCC Recorded Sound Section reference.
