Biographical Note
John Broven started writing for Blues Unlimited from its first issue in 1963, was a co-editor of the magazine in the mid-1970s, co-founder of Juke Blues Magazine in 1985, and served as a consultant at Ace Records of London, a leading reissue company, producing over 250 reissue CDs between 1991 and 2006. Through the years, he has contributed many music-history articles to periodicals and essays for numerous record/CD releases, and has authored numerous books on American blues music and independent record labels.
