Acquisition Information
Records of the Library of Congress were first transferred to the Library of Congress Archives in the Manuscript Division in 1897 and continue to the present. Material has also been received through gift and purchase.
Processing History
Arrangement and description of these records began in the 1940s and is ongoing. This document is a compilation of previous finding aids and includes material added to the Library of Congress Archives since the 1990s.

The Manuscript Division holds papers of librarians of Congress, senior Library staff members, papers of leaders in the library field, and records of scholarly associations.
