Provenance
The papers of the John Alexander Logan family, including John Alexander Logan (1826-1886), army officer and United States senator and representative from Illinois, were deposited in the Library of Congress by Mary Logan Tucker and John A. Logan III in 1925, 1931, and 1941. In 1952 all deposits were converted to gift by John A. Logan III.
Processing History
The John Alexander Logan family papers were arranged and described in 1963. This register was revised in 1999 and again in 2008.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Photographic material has been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. Some maps have been transferred to the Geography and Map Division. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the John Alexander Logan Family Papers.
