Acquisition Information
The papers of Joseph L. Rauh, lawyer, civil libertarian, and civil rights activist, were given to the Library of Congress by Rauh in 1986. Subsequent additions were received from 1987 through 2015 from Rauh; his law associates, James C. Turner and Elliot C. Lichtman; his wife, Olie Rauh; and Rauh's sons, Carl Rauh and Michael Rauh.
Processing History
Part I of the papers of Joseph L. Rauh was arranged and described by Connie L. Cartledge in 1988. An accession of speeches received in 1989 was interfiled into Part I in 1990. Additional legal material received in 1989 was processed as Part II in 1990. Subsequent material received between 1990 and 1994 was processed as Part III in 1994. Material received in 1995 was processed as Part IV in 1999. Material received from 1999 to 2015 was processed as Part V in 2015 by Cartledge, who also processed Parts II and III. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Maria Farmer as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.
Transfers
Sound recordings have been transferred to the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting and Recorded Sound Division where they are identified as part of these papers.
