Acquisition Information
The papers of James A. Emanuel, poet and educator, were given to the Library of Congress by Emanuel in 1995 and 1996. In 2006 Emanuel gave the Library an audio CD of an interview with him. Additional material was given in 2014 by his estate, and in 2018 by Emanuel's illustrator, Nicole Lamotte, and his French translator, Jean Migrenne.
Processing History
The papers of James A. Emanuel were arranged and described in 2000 by T. Michael Womack. Additional material received between 2006 and 2014 was processed and the finding aid revised in 2016 by Chad Conrady. The material received in 2018 was processed and the finding aid revised in 2024 by Laura J. Kells.
Transfers
Sound and video recordings have been transferred to the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center where they are identified as part of the James A. Emanuel Papers. Patrons are encouraged to contact NAVCC in advance of a research visit.
