Acquisition Information
The papers of Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris were given to the Library of Congress by Anton O. Kris and Anna Kris Wolff in 2001. Additions were given by Anton O. Kris in 2009 and by David S. Kris and Michael M. Kris in 2022.
Processing History
Part I of the papers of Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris were arranged and described in 2003 by Michael Spangler. Part II was processed and the finding aid revised in 2024 by Andrea J. Briggs with the assistance of Shandra Morehouse.
Digital files were received as part of the Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris Papers on a variety of storage media, each of which was assigned a unique digital ID number. Use the digital ID number to request access copies of the files associated with each media. Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Audio and visual material has been transferred to the National Audio-Visual Conservation Center. Four silk-screen prints by the artist Robert E. L. Rainey have been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. Two books have been transferred to the Library's Rare Book and Special Collections Division. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the Ernst Kris and Marianne Kris Papers. Patrons are encouraged to contact these divisions in advance of a research visit.
Technical Requirements
Digital files were created in a Windows operating system, version unknown. The content is primarily audio files in .mp3 and .cda formats, moving image files in .mp4 format, and images in .jpg/.jpeg format. Files originally received in .cda format have been converted to .wav format for preservation and accessibility. Disk images were also created of media containing .vob moving image files for preservation and accessibility.
