Scope and Content Note
The papers of George Redington (1798-1850) span the years 1804-1907 with the bulk of the papers dating from 1825 to 1850. The papers consist of professional correspondence, legal documents, sales records and accounts of lumber mills, orders, receipts, bound ledgers, and a history of Ogdensburg, New York, and are organized in the following series: Chronological File, Financial Records, Miscellany, and Oversize. The papers after 1850 are primarily those of his brother, James, and other members of the Redington family. Included in the Redington Papers is material relating to the Ogden and Parish families, pioneers of Ogdensburg, New York. Also included are organizational records relating to the Waddington Division, no. 299, of the Sons of Temperance of North America.
