Acquisition Information
The papers of Josef Breuer, physician, physiologist, and colleague of Sigmund Freud, were given to the Library of Congress by his granddaughters Marie Kann and Margarethe Ungar, by Marie Schimetschek Schiff, and by the Sigmund Freud Archives between 1952 and 1993.
Processing History
The papers of Josef Breuer were arranged and described by David Mathisen in 1985. The collection was expanded and revised in 1991 Allan Teichroew with the assistance of Patrick Holyfield and Brian McGuire and by Allan Teichroew in 1995. The finding aid was revised by Margaret McAleer in 2007. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Maria Farmer as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.
