Scope and Content Note
The papers of Rosa Freud Graf (1860-circa 1942) span the years 1879-1942 and consist of correspondence, subject files, writings, photographs, and miscellaneous material salvaged by relatives after her death in the German extermination camp at Auschwitz (Oswiecim), Poland, in late 1942 or early 1943. The bulk of her papers came to the Library with those of her nephew, Harry Freud; they focus exclusively on personal and family matters. Among the principal items are early Freud family letters, memorabilia and documents relating to her parents, Jacob Freud and Amalia Nathanson Freud, and various photographs of ancestors, siblings, and other relatives, including her brother Sigmund.
Correspondents include Anna Freud Bernays, Minna Bernays, Princess Marie Bonaparte, Adolphine Freud, Heinrich Graf (husband), and Istvàn Hollòs.
