Acquisition Information
The papers of Julia Ward Howe were given to the Library of Congress by her daughter, Maud Howe Elliott, and by Mary Lieber, between 1937 and 1950. An addition to the papers was purchased by the Library in 2024.
Processing History
The papers of Julia Ward Howe were arranged and described in 1979 by John Connell. The finding aid was revised in 2005 by Patrick Kerwin and Lia Apodaca. An addition was added and the finding aid revised in 2024 by Katherine S. Madison.
Transfers
Musical scores have been transferred to the Library's Music Division where they are identified as part of the Julia Ward Howe Papers. Patrons are encouraged to contact the Music Division in advance of a research visit.
