Acquisition Information
The papers of Edward William Brooke, lawyer, attorney general of Massachusetts, and U.S. senator, were given to the Library of Congress by Brooke between 1978 and 2005. Additions were given by the Senate Historical Office in 2008, his wife, Anne Brooke, in 2016 and Gale Kaufmann in 2018.
Processing History
The collection was processed in 1998 by Audrey Walker with the assistance of Allyson Jackson, Patrick Kerwin, Sherralyn McCoy, and Thelma Queen. The finding aid was revised in 2009. Material received between 2005 and 2018 was processed by Colleen Benoit Kimas as an addition in 2018.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Audio and video recordings have been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division. One published title has been transferred to the Serial & Government Publications Division. All transfers are identified as a part of the Edward W. Brooke Papers.
