Acquisition Information
The papers of Francis Ralph Valeo, secretary of the U. S. Senate and foreign affairs consultant, were given to the Library of Congress by Valeo in 1977, 1985, and 1987.
Processing History
The collection was processed by William Parham in 1986. The finding aid was revised and expanded by Michael Spangler with the assistance of Deloris Butler and Sherralyn McCoy in 1996 and further revised in 2009.
Transfers
Sound recordings have been transferred to the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division, where they are identified as part of these papers. Maps have been transferred to the Library's Geography and Map Division, where they are described in a finding aid at https://hdl.loc.gov/loc.gmd/eadgmd.gm020007.
Other Repositories
In 1985-1986 the Senate Historical Office conducted an oral history interview with Valeo. A copy of that interview is filed with the Manuscript Division's collection of Senate Historical Office Oral History Interviews.
