Acquisition Information
The papers of Russell E. Train were given to the Library of Congress by Train in 2005. Additional material was given by Train in 2010 and 2011 and in 2015 by the staff of the World Wildlife Fund.
Processing History
Part I of the Russell E. Train Papers was arranged and described in 2014 by Joseph K. Brooks with the assistance of Nicholas Newlin and Maria R. Farmer. Material received between 2011 and 2015 was processed as Part II in 2019 by Chad Conrady with the assistance of Rosa Hernandez and Tracey Barton.
Digital files were received as part each part of the Russell E. Train Papers on a variety of storage media, each of which was assigned a unique digital ID number. Use the digital ID number to request access copies of the files associated with each media. Transfers
In Part I some video and audio recordings have been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division. In Part II one audiocassette and one flixi disc sound disc were transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division. All transfers are identified as part of the Russell E. Train Papers.
Related Materials
Related collections in the Manuscript Division include the papers of Charles Jackson Train and Charles Russell Train , Russell E. Train's grandfather and father, which form part of the Library's Naval Historical Foundation Collection. Also related are the papers of Fairfield Osborne, a pioneering environmentalist and mentor to Train.
Technical Requirements
Digital files were created in a Windows operating system, version is unknown. The content is primarily images files in .jpg and .tiff formats. Audio files in .wav formats and moving image files in .VOB.
