Scope and Content Note
The papers of John Noel Deisch (1892-1978) span the years 1910-1937 and consist of a typescript with holographic notes and corrections of Deisch's monograph, The Navigation of Interplanetary Space: A Study of the Question (Problem) of Flights to Other Worlds, articles by Deisch, correspondence, biographical material, and miscellaneous material relating to Deisch's patents and awards. The focus is on the typescript of Navigation of Interplanetary Space, an early scientific treatise in English on space travel. Although Deisch received some training in biology, chemistry, and mechanical engineering and worked for most of his life as a patent draftsman, he seems to have been essentially self taught in the field of astronautics.
