Scope and Content Note
The papers of Theodore Marburg (1862-1946) span the years 1856-1940, with the bulk of the items concentrated in the period 1893-1940. The collection consists of letters and related matter mounted by Marburg or his family in scrapbooks that overlap chronologically. Topics include Marburg's civic activities in Baltimore, Maryland, his activities in the cause of internationalism and peace before and after World War I, his role as American minister to Belgium, 1912-1914, his art collection, and his activities as an advocate of public works of art in Baltimore, Maryland.
