Scope and Content Note
The papers of Paul Gray (1918-2002) span the years 1924-2002, with the bulk of the material dating from 1955 to 2000. The papers focus solely on his professional work as a psychoanalyst, as a training and supervising analyst with the Baltimore Washington Institute for Psychoanalysis, and on his research and writing about psychoanalysis. The papers consist of correspondence, writings, both published and draft material, course material, and conference papers. A special correspondents file contains writings as well as correspondence and other material concerning professional associates of Gray, mostly fellow analysts but also academics and writers from other fields with an interest in psychoanalysis. Included in this file is material relating to Anna Freud, Merton M. Gill, Dorothy E. Holmes, Jonathan Lear, Cecilio Paniagua, Leo Rangell, Owen Renik, Evelyne Albrecht Schwaber, and Immanuel Velikovsky.
