Scope and Content Note
The Henry Bartholomew Cox Collection spans the years 1492 to 1960, with the bulk of the material concentrated in the period 1792 to 1858, and consists of correspondence and other material, including a letter of Antonio Vespucci, brother of Amerigo Vespucci. The bulk of the collection relates to French spoliation claims. Correspondents include Henry M. Brackenridge, James H. Causten, Caleb Cushing, Edward Everett, Benjamin C. Howard, Edward Livingston, William L. Marcy, John Henry Purviance, Fulwar Skipwith, Robert Smith, Truman Smith, and Harry S. Tuman.
