Scope and Content Note
The papers of Edward Willis (1834-1910) span the years 1854-1906 and document Willis's service as chief quartermaster for G. T. Beauregard's division of the Confederate Army. The collection consists of lists of blockade runners, correspondence, Confederate pamphlets, a ledger, memorandum books, requisition books, quartermaster receipts, drawings, photographs, newspaper clippings, and other printed matter. The papers document defensive operations along the South Carolina and Georgia coasts during the Civil War, the Siege of Petersburg, and the movement of troops in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi.
