Scope and Content Note
The papers of Gilbert Monell Hitchcock (1859-1934) span the years 1910-1935 and consist of correspondence, memoranda, reports, and printed material pertaining to Hitchcock's service as United States senator from Nebraska. Subjects include his role as chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations and relations between President Woodrow Wilson and Congress, especially during the fight over the peace treaty in the Senate, 1919-1920.
