Scope and Content Note
The Yudin Collection of Russian-American Company Records spans the years 1783-1946, with the bulk from 1783 to 1830. The collection contains official letters, work reports, tariff and cargo registers, ships’ journals, accounts of exploratory expeditions, and other papers relating to the exploration and colonization of Alaska and Siberia by the Russian-American Company (Rossiĭsko-amerikanskai︠a︡ kompanii︠a︡). Also included is material relating to the company’s contacts with the Japanese, Chinese, and Portuguese. Individuals mentioned include Nikolaĭ Petrovich Rezanov and G. I. Shelikhov. The material is chiefly in Russian.
