Provenance
The papers of William Harrison Standley, naval officer and U.S. ambassador to the Soviet Union, were deposited in the Library of Congress in 1969 and 1973 by the Naval Historical Foundation and converted to a gift in 1998.
Processing History
The Standley Papers were processed in 1973. The finding aid was revised in 2009.

Phonograph albums have been transferred to the Library's Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division where they are identified as part of these papers.

The USC Library at the University of Southern California, Los Angeles, Calif., also holds a collection of Standley papers.
