Scope and Content Note
The papers of Edwin Alexander Halsey (1881-1945) span the years 1930-1946 and consist of correspondence, clippings, printed and near-print material, financial records, campaign papers, and other material relating to Halsey's duties as secretary of the Senate and to various Democratic campaigns. The papers are organized into the following series: Senate Correspondence File , General Correspondence , and Miscellany .
The Senate Correspondence File relates chiefly to Halsey's duties as secretary of the Senate, and although the series also contains some items concerning his activities as secretary-treasurer of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee, the General Correspondence series more fully documents this aspect of his career. The Miscellany series further reflects the operations and campaigns of the Democratic Party and its senatorial campaign committee under Halsey's leadership.
