Scope and Content Note
The papers of Charles Henry Harvey (1830-1896) span the years 1835 to 1965 with the bulk of the material dating from 1849 to1894. They document his life and work as a mill worker and carpenter in Methuen, Massachusetts, as well as his voyage around Cape Horn aboard the Crescent (ship) to California to dig for gold, his life in California from 1850 to 1859, and his work as a goldminer and carpenter in Pueblo and Denver, Colorado, in 1879. Items include his diaries and daybooks, as well as family correspondence and family diaries, including those of his mother, Joanne Harvey.
