Scope and Content Note
The papers of Adelaide Rosalia Hasse (1868-1953) span the years 1862-1951 and pertain to her life and career as a librarian and bibliographer. Hasse is credited with developing the Superintendent of Documents Classification System used to classify and arrange government documents while employed at the Government Printing Office. The papers include correspondence, subject files documenting her contacts with various organizations, printed matter, and miscellany. Among the printed matter are a copy of her 1917 address before the Special Libraries Association that was reprinted in Library Journal and editorials from Special Libraries while she served as editor.
