Acquisition Information
The family papers of Anson Burlingame, state legislator, United States representative from Massachusetts, and minister to China, and Edward L. Burlingame, editor, were given to the Library of Congress by Edward's grandson, Roger Burlingame, in 1955.
Processing History
The Burlingame Family Papers were processed in 1955, expanded in 1961, and revised in 1982. The finding aid was revised again in 2009 and encoded in 2010 by Glenn R. Gardner. The finding aid was updated in 2023 by Maria Farmer as part of a division-wide remediation project by the Inclusive Description Working Group.
