The papers of Roswell Randall Hoes, naval officer and chaplain, were purchased by the Library of Congress in 1912 as part of the Roswell Randall Hoes Collection, chiefly printed material, relating to the Spanish-American War. Additional installments to the Roswell Randall Hoes Papers were acquired by transfer and purchase from 1966 through 1974.
Processing History
The papers of Roswell Randall Hoes were arranged and described in 1964. The finding aid was revised in 2010 and again in 2016 when two items were moved into oversize.

The Hispanic Division of the Library of Congress has custody of the Roswell Randall Hoes Collection relating to the Spanish-American War.
