Acquisition Information
The papers of Jack S. Kilby, engineer and inventor, were given to the Library of Congress by Kilby's daughters, Janet K. Cameron and Ann Kilby, in 2006. Additional items were given by Ann Kilby between 2006 and 2011.
Processing History
The papers of Jack S. Kilby were arranged and described in 2007 by Connie L. Cartledge with the assistance of Tracey R. Barton and Sherralyn McCoy. The Artifacts series was rehoused and the finding aid revised in 2012. Additional material received between 2006 and 2011 was processed as an addition and the finding aid revised in 2022 by Pang H. Xiong.
Transfers
Items have been transferred from the Manuscript Division to other custodial divisions of the Library. Some photographs have been transferred to the Prints and Photographs Division. Videotapes and a sound recording have been transferred to the Motion Picture, Broadcasting, and Recorded Sound Division. Some books have been transferred to the Library's general collections. All transfers are identified in these divisions as part of the Jack S. Kilby Papers. Patrons are encouraged to contact these divisions in advance of a research visit.
Other Repositories
A collection of Kilby's photographs, memorabilia, and awards was given by his family to the DeGolyer Library, Southern Methodist University, Dallas, Texas.
