Scope and Content Note
The papers of Cooper Curtice (1856-1939) span the years 1822-1953 and consist of correspondence, a diary, family papers, biographical and genealogical material, notes, speeches and writings, clippings, a scrapbook, printed matter, and miscellaneous material chiefly relating to Curtice’s research into animal diseases.
The bulk of the collection relates to Curtice’s research into the cattle disease Texas fever and the eradication of its carrier, the cattle tick. His research into diseases in sheep and turkeys is also represented in the collection. Family papers and genealogical materials relate to the Curtice family. Correspondents include Alpheus Hyatt, Veranus A. Moore, Theobald Smith, and Charles D. Walcott.
