Scope and Content Note
The records of the Susan B. Anthony Foundation, Washington, D.C., span the years 1895-1943 and include correspondence, bylaws and constitution, minutes, reports, financial records, membership lists, a scrapbook, clippings, and printed matter. The foundation was known as the Anthony League of the District of Columbia from its establishment in 1912 until 1924.
Included in the collection are biographical materials concerning Susan B. Anthony and records of the District of Columbia Woman Suffrage Association. Correspondence relates to the District of Columbia Federation of Women’s Clubs, the Juvenile Protective Association of the District of Columbia, and the National League of Women Voters (U.S.). Anna E. Hendley, founder and president of the foundation, is represented in the collection.
